For over 50 years, Americorps VISTA members have been serving their country through assisting local organizations in the fight against poverty by helping these organizations expand their capacity to make changes.
To fight back against the opioid epidemic in Kansas City, Footprints Inc and the Kansas City Recovery Coalition have partnered to bring VISTA members to many local recovery agencies.
VISTAs in Action
Since its inception, over 200,000 volunteer members have served with VISTA in their local communities.
Here in Kansas City VISTAS are serving with many different recovery agencies doing a wide variety of activities to support them. Some of these activities include:
-Researching funding opportunities and grant writing.
-Organizing training events and other meetings.
-Engaging in promotional activities including social media and newsletters.
-Meeting with decision makers and policy makers in the community.
-Supervising and recruiting volunteers.
